Saturday 12th of august 2006 was the 15th Streetparade of Zurich. Almost one million people. Hanneke, Marike, Bob and Raymond where there for the ultimate experience to dance on the beats of the Ferry Corstens Parade Truck. Our famous Dutch DJ. Nr 5 ranking on Worlds Best DJ's list.
Bleeeeeb. Alarm clock, Friday morning; 4:15 in the morning. Time to get up for a 8.5 hour drive from Holland to Switzerland. A tiring drive with only rain, rain, rain and road maintenance throughout Germany.
Our destination was Jona, 30 Km from Zurich; where we could stay at our Swiss friends place for the weekend. We've met them in the Maldives (see Maldives story) and where now invited to stay the whole weekend.
Roger, Sibylle and their 10 year old daughter Sheryl, we’ve met for the first time and was a great host. We got a royal guestroom with our names on the door and they made us a lovely BBQ dinner and we had a great evening with Swiss jet fighters over the house, fireworks and lots of wine and grappa, (Don’t tell anybody because they will be fully booked for the rest of the year) which gave me quite a strong head ague in the morning. But when we were in Zurich city in the afternoon and the heavy rains disappeared just one our before the start of the parade, everything was looking good for a great party.
Remo, head of security and his girlfriend Erica we also met on the Maldives had arranged free tickets for the truck. Unbelievably cool to be on the truck and drinks included. They visited us just when the party started, but unfortunately they did not have much time to stay because of the organization. It was a fantastic trip and everybody was real enthusiastic as you can see on the pictures. Only rain at the end of the parade, but we had e great roof to stay dry!
Well Swissies thank you very much for the great time. We won't forget any of it. Hope to see you again on the Maldives or in Holland. You are invited to come to Holland any time you like; the house and car are at your service. (Free guided tours with Hanneke and me are also possible off course)
